The so-called \u201cwelfare state\u201d was created, with social security, pension and assistance policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this expansion brought with it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase in tax burden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Growth of state bureaucracy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduction of individual autonomy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>What was presented as protection became control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dependence as a power strategy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By offering benefits and subsidies, the State has created a relationship of dependence with its citizens. This dependence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It reduces the incentive for private initiative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It makes individuals more susceptible to political manipulation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It consolidates the power of bureaucratic elites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The promise of security served to justify the expansion of state power to the detriment of economic freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The false dichotomy between security and freedom<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>State discourse often presents a choice between security and freedom, as if they were mutually exclusive.
