But what&#039;s really missing is a limit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year, the narrative repeats itself: the budget is tight, the country is poor, the blanket is tight. And as always, the adjustment falls on those who work, undertake or consume. But when we look at the numbers \u2014 the <strong>expenses with institutional privileges, parliamentary assistance, electoral funds, travel, daily allowances, secret funds<\/strong> \u2014 the image is different: <strong>The Brazilian State is not poor. It is selectively generous.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some lack, others have plenty<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While millions live on less than R$2,000 per month, senators receive <strong>R$ 44 thousand net<\/strong>, with the right to <strong>housing assistance even if you own a property<\/strong>. While small businesses close due to excessive taxes, deputies create <strong>parliamentary fronts to defend privileged sectors<\/strong>. While the SUS suffers collapses, ministers fly in FAB jets for private commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no lack of resources \u2014 what is lacking is <strong>desire to break with the logic that perpetuates institutional inequalities<\/strong> in the name of governability, tradition or convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brazil of selective austerity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to cutting costs, the proposals focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Social benefits (for the poorest)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investment in infrastructure (for the country to grow)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cuts in basic services (to \u201cbalance\u201d the accounts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But no one proposes cutting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cabinet funds<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Party funds<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Free appointment positions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>State-owned companies with chronic losses<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because this would affect the functioning of the political machinery. And, as everyone knows, in Brazil, <strong>politics is untouchable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The poverty speech is just for you<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The state elite created a rhetorical shield: <strong>\u201cyou can\u2019t do more with less\u201d \u2014 unless that \u201cless\u201d is you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that is why Brazil continues to be a \u201cpoor\u201d country where politicians travel in business class, spend R$200,000 on printing and approve salary increases above inflation \u2014 <strong>while the people ration rice and medicine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udccc The account does close, yes.
