About Power & Market

Power & Market is a political and economic analysis blog committed to individual freedom, criticism of state interventionism and the defense of the free market as an expression of human diversity.

Founded by Elian Verres, the project was born from the need to unmask authoritarian discourses — whether left-wing, right-wing or technocratic — that hide under the veneer of freedom, but sustain state privileges and structures of coercion.

Who is Elian Verres?

Elian Verres is a political and economic analyst, with training in Philosophy and Economics. He worked as a university professor and founded the blog Power & Market to unite the analytical rigor of economic sciences with the philosophical critique of power structures.

With a direct, critical and accessible style, Elian writes about:

  • the destructive effects of protectionism and state centralization;
  • the fallacies of left and right economic populism;
  • and the moral roots of market freedom.

Author of The 100 Days of Donald Trump: The Antiliberal Right, [under construction] Elian argues that economic freedom is the basis of true social justice, and that Voluntary trade is the greatest expression of peace between individuals.
